Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in Osun State, describing the outcome as a resounding victory for democracy and the will of the people.
In a statement issued by her media aide, Mike Idoko, on Sunday, Akpoti-Uduaghan commended President Bola Tinubu for allowing Osun voters to freely choose their governor despite the intense political interests surrounding the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, winner of the keenly contested poll, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 14 other candidates.
Reacting to the result, Akpoti-Uduaghan said the people of Osun had “spoken loudly and unmistakably,” proving that political machinery, intimidation, or pressure cannot silence the electorate.
She emphasized that Adeleke’s victory should be seen beyond partisan politics, as it reflects Nigeria’s democratic resilience.
She also praised Nigerian music star Davido for his active role in supporting his uncle’s campaign, noting that his commitment to the democratic process was “noteworthy.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan concluded that the broader lesson from the election is that political leaders must build genuine relationships with the electorate through service, rather than relying solely on political structures.
She urged politicians nationwide to take heed of this message ahead of the 2027 general elections.
