Political commentator Imran Wakili has claimed that President Bola Tinubu has repeatedly acted without consequences and could even “write his own election result” in 2027 without facing any challenge.
In a post on X on Thursday, Wakili listed what he described as instances of constitutional violations that the President had gotten away with.
These included the suspension of a sitting governor, the continued detention of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai for 170 days over a bailable offence (with 50 of those days without any public explanation), and the reported freezing of Osun State Government’s accounts.
“Bola Tinubu suspended a sitting governor, and nothing happened. He got away with it, regardless of what the Constitution says,” Wakili wrote.
“Bola Tinubu is keeping El-Rufai in detention for 170 days over a bailable offence… and he has gotten away with it, regardless of what the Constitution says.“
Bola Tinubu is now freezing the account of an entire state government, and there is nothing anybody can do about it, regardless of what the Constitution says.
“Bola Tinubu could write his own election result in 2027, and nothing will happen. We will simply continue living our lives.”
He further suggested that if the President desired a third term, the National Assembly would approve it, with opposition legislators offering little resistance.
