Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun-East, has expressed grave concern over reports of political violence in Ilesa, alleging that 12 people, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), were killed in recent clashes.
The lawmaker recalled that shootings erupted in Igbogi, Ilesa, on Tuesday, where three APC members including a ward women leader lost their lives. Security forces responded with a show of strength in the area.
Speaking to journalists, Fadahunsi claimed the violence was orchestrated to instill fear and suppress voter turnout ahead of Saturday’s poll.
He alleged that over 40 people have been killed in Osun East within the past year, accusing the state government of failing to curb the unrest.
According to him, “Terrorism was created from Ede into Osun East, the APC stronghold, so that people will not go out en masse to cast their votes.”
The senator chronicled several violent incidents, including clashes over local government control that left four dead and 16 injured, as well as an April 2025 crisis in Esa-Oke where four people were killed and 12 wounded.
He further accused unnamed government officials and political allies of fueling the unrest, linking some perpetrators to cult groups.
Fadahunsi specifically mentioned Solomon Adefioye, also known as Solo Iwara, as one of those allegedly involved.
He added: “Go to Wesley Guild; there are corpses everywhere. The former Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, and Remi Omowaiye are in hospital instead of planning for the election.”
Governor Ademola Adeleke, however, dismissed the allegations, accusing Fadahunsi of inciting residents against the Accord Party and calling on police to arrest and prosecute him.
