The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a three-day weather outlook predicting a mix of sunshine, cloudiness, thunderstorms, and rainfall across different regions of the country from Monday through Wednesday.
According to the forecast released in Abuja, northern states will experience sunny spells with intermittent cloud cover, alongside thunderstorms and moderate rainfall.
On Monday morning, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna are expected to see thunderstorms with rain, while by afternoon and evening, similar conditions will spread to Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, and other northern states.
The North-Central region, including Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory, is also expected to record thunderstorms and rainfall throughout the period.
In the South, states such as Ondo, Ogun, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos, and Bayelsa will see morning showers, with heavier rainfall forecast later in the day.
NiMet noted that the pattern would continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, with thunderstorms and moderate rainfall becoming more widespread, particularly in northern and southern regions.
The agency advised residents to take precautions against strong winds that may precede rainfall, warning that prolonged downpours could trigger flash flooding in coastal areas.
It urged drivers to avoid flooded roads, disconnect electrical appliances during storms, and stay clear of tall trees to prevent accidents from falling branches.
Airline operators were also advised to obtain airport-specific weather updates to aid flight planning.
NiMet encouraged the public to monitor its regular forecasts and consult its official platforms for timely information.
