‘My heart is tired of the silence’ — Bimbo Adebayo seeks reconciliation with Itele

Bimbo Adebayo, the Nigerian actor famous in the Yoruba film industry, has appealed to her colleague Ibrahim ‘Itele’ Yekini for reconciliation.

In an Instagram post, the actress shared a video with several throwback photos of them together and said “there’s been silence between us for almost a year”.

She said she had decided to put her pride aside and apologise to Itele for anything she may have said that may have hurt him, while reaffirming her respect for him as “my senior colleague, brother and friend”.

Adebayo said even though the incident “deeply hurt” her, she is seeking peace rather than trying to determine who was right or wrong, urging people to pray for reconciliation between them.

“For everyone that knows me, knows I’m stubborn but some battles are not worth winning. Sometimes all your heart truly want is peace. For almost a year, there’s been silence between us, a whole year of hurt, pride and things left unsaid. Even though I was deeply hurt by what happened, today, I have come to realise that holding on to pain only keeps the wound open,” she wrote.

“Today, I choose to put my pride aside. Firstly, you’re my senior colleague, a brother and friend, and regardless of everything that happened, I still have respect for you, Itele. I’m using this medium to say if I have said anything, done anything or reacted in a way that hurt you, I’m sincerely sorry. Pls forgive me.

“I’m not making this post because someone ask me to, before God and man! Neither am I making this post to explain who’s right or wrong. But I’m making this post because my heart is tired of the silence, and I took a deep thought to realise that life is too short! And tomorrow is not even promised.

“And to everyone seeing this post, pls say a little prayer for peace between us. Sometimes, being the bigger person is choosing peace over chaos. I sincerely hope this reaches your heart.”

Responding to her plea, Itele commented on the post, saying he had moved past the issue and was ready to reconcile with her, describing what happened as a misunderstanding.

“It’s all gone, my sister. It’s not that deep, it was just a misunderstanding. No hard feelings at all. Let’s leave it all in the past and move forward in peace. May God forgive us all,” he said.

However, the details of what transpired between the two actors remain undisclosed.
