The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed claims that it has begun recruiting and training ad-hoc staff for the 2027 general election, warning the public against a fake website being circulated online.
In a statement issued on Monday, the commission said its attention had been drawn to a message circulating on social media and other platforms that falsely claims INEC is currently recruiting ad-hoc personnel for the 2027 polls.
The message directs interested applicants to a purported recruitment website.“This information is not from INEC. The website/link being circulated is NOT an official INEC recruitment portal,” the commission stated.
INEC strongly advised members of the public not to click on the link, submit personal information, upload documents, or make any payment through the platform.
It urged Nigerians to rely solely on its verified communication channels and official websites for any recruitment or election-related information.
“For official information, please visit: inecnigeria.org,” the statement added.The commission noted that it has previously warned the public about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements purporting to come from INEC.
It called on citizens to disregard the false notice and avoid circulating it further.
While INEC has indicated it will eventually need a large number of ad-hoc staff, approximately 1.4 million personnel across more than 176,000 polling units for the 2027 elections, no such recruitment exercise has commenced at this time.
