LASU Resolves Missing Results Controversy, Rules Out Extra Year for Qualified Students

The management of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, says no qualified student will spend an extra year at the institution due to missing results.

The university gave the assurance following claims that about 100 final-year students in the department of English risked an extra year because two lecturers failed to upload some of their 300-level results.

The claims sparked outrage on social media, particularly on X, with concerns that the affected students could be prevented from graduating alongside their peers.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the university said the matter has been resolved.

“Following an enquiry by the University Management into the allegation concerning the non-upload of results of some graduating students in the Department of English, the University wishes to clarify that the Department has uploaded all outstanding results as of Sunday, 23 August 2026,” the statement reads.

The university said all students who have fulfilled graduation requirements will graduate with their peers in the just-concluded 2025/2026 academic session.

“No student who has met all graduation requirements will be required to spend an extra year on account of the issue raised,” the institution said.

“Any student whose result remains outstanding following this action has yet to fulfil the requirements for graduation and is advised to complete the necessary requirements accordingly.”

The university reiterated its commitment to ensuring that students who have met all graduation requirements are not unduly delayed in completing their programmes.
