Chief Sir Joseph Ebere Ezeokafor, chairman of Jezco Group of Companies and father of social media personality Jowi Zaza, has safely returned to his hometown of Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State after nearly two weeks in captivity.
Ezeokafor, a septuagenarian, was abducted in the early hours of Tuesday while reportedly heading to a prayer ground in Awka.
He regained his freedom on Friday night, and his homecoming on Monday sparked widespread celebration among his kinsmen.
A viral video captured rural women thronging his expansive compound, many embracing him with tears of joy, while others lay on the ground in gratitude to God for his safe return.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed that Ezeokafor and a Reverend Sister abducted alongside him at Ifite-Awka had both been released.
Authorities stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding their freedom and to track down the perpetrators.
Ezeokafor’s return has brought relief to the community, which had been gripped by tension since his abduction.
