Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been conferred with a traditional title by the Bauchi Emirate, receiving recognition for his role in strengthening democracy and promoting national unity.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who led a delegation of government officials and dignitaries, praised Jonathan’s leadership.
“The conferment of this title reflects the recognition of Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s contributions to the development of democracy and national unity in Nigeria,” Mohammed said.
Jonathan, dressed in Bauchi Emirate regalia, expressed gratitude to the Emir, Dr. Rilwanu Sulaimanu, and the people of Bauchi State.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition and I appreciate His Royal Highness, the Bauchi Emirate and the people of Bauchi State for this honour,” Jonathan stated.
He pledged to uphold the dignity of the title, respect the laws and traditions of the Emirate, and continue to promote values that strengthen unity.
Jonathan has been in Bauchi since Sunday and on Monday inaugurated several road projects executed by Governor Mohammed’s administration.
