Real Madrid have agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to purchase Yan Diomande of Côte d’Ivoire for a reported fee of €125 million.
The Spanish giants announced an update on the highly
anticipated transfer move on Thursday.
Madrid added that the deal will see 19-year-old Ivorian
“tied to our club for the next seven seasons, until June 30, 2033”.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian journalist, Los
Blancos will pay an initial €125 million plus another €15 million as add-ons.
The quoted figures make Diomande the most expensive African
footballer, eclipsing the €80m Arsenal paid for Nicholas Pepe from Lille in
2019.
Madrid outbid PSG and Liverpool for the signing of the
teenage Ivorian, who spent just one season in the Bundesliga after joining
Leipzig from Leganes in 2025.
He was the Bundesliga young player of the season, with 12
goals and eight assists.
He is the sixth signing at the Santiago Bernabeu this
window, following Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel
Dumfries and Carlos Espi.
Madrid had also changed their manager, re-appointing Jose
Mourinho for his second spell at the club and are overhauling their squad after
going two consecutive seasons without a major trophy.
The club are also reportedly interested in acquiring Rodri
from Manchester City.
