The Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, has resigned his membership of the party with immediate effect.
Zaune announced his decision in a resignation letter dated August 5, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the ADC in Zaune Ward, Dukku Local Government Area. In the letter, sighted by Daily Post on Thursday, he expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve at the local, state, and national levels. “I sincerely appreciate the political party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities… I therefore wish the party well,” he wrote.
Although Zaune did not disclose his next political move, his resignation has sparked speculation that he may defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The development comes barely 24 hours after APC governorship candidate Jamilu Gwamna visited Dukku, Zaune’s home local government area.
The timing of his exit has heightened political interest as parties intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Gombe. Zaune’s resignation also follows that of ADC State Secretary Ahmed Gana, who recently joined the APC in support of Gwamna’s ambition.
