Adeleke’s Camp Denies Political Deal With Tinubu Amid Keyamo’s Claim

The Imole Campaign Council of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed suggestions that his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid was the result of a political pact.

Council spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, clarified in a statement on X that Adeleke’s support stems from Tinubu’s performance and economic reforms, not from any prior agreement.

His remarks came in response to Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, who congratulated Adeleke on his re-election and posted, “Agreement is agreement.”

Keyamo’s comment sparked speculation online about a possible deal between the governor and the president.Olajengbesi countered: “Do not undermine the resilience of Osun people. There is no agreement. Our support for President Tinubu is based on his reforms that have strengthened states economically.”

He emphasized that Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 governorship election was solely the decision of Osun voters, while Tinubu’s role was to ensure democratic rules were upheld.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, winner with 511,067 votes, defeating APC’s Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815.

Adeleke, now in his second term, had earlier reaffirmed his backing for Tinubu’s 2027 bid, describing the president as a “son of Osun State.”
