Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has unveiled a ₦500 million endowment fund to support victims of pre-election violence in the state.
The announcement was made on Wednesday as Adeleke received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, formally validating his re-election.
According to his aide Olalekan Badmus, the fund will provide financial assistance to victims across party lines, while the Adeleke family will sponsor full scholarships up to university level for children of those who lost their lives.
Badmus noted that verification and compilation of beneficiaries will be handled by a special committee chaired by Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly.
Adeleke emphasized that the initiative is humanitarian, not political: “No eligible victim will be excluded because of political affiliation, religion, ethnicity, gender or social status. In grief, there is no political party. In our common humanity, we are one people.”
He also appealed for unity following the election, assuring residents that he governs for all, regardless of who they supported. “The election is over. The campaign is over. The contest is over. Now is the time to govern, unite, heal and build,” he said.
The governor prayed for families affected by the violence and pledged to consolidate achievements while correcting past mistakes during his second term.
