Chieftains of the Labour Party in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, have reaffirmed their full support for Governor Alex Otti and established three strategic committees to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decisions were contained in a communiqué issued on Monday after a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Chief of Staff to the Governor and stakeholders’ chairman, Pastor Caleb Ajagba.
The leaders praised Otti for the ongoing transformation in Abia State, highlighting major projects in Nsulu such as the Abia International Airport, the Umuomaiukwu Smart School, and several road infrastructure works.
They resolved to deepen unity within the Labour Party in Nsulu, stressing that all members — regardless of when they joined should enjoy equal status, mutual respect, inclusiveness, and equal opportunity to contribute to the party’s growth.
According to the communiqué, jointly signed by Ajagba and the Joint Acting Secretaries, Dr Chibuzo Emeruwa and Dr Enyichukwu Olumba, the forum agreed to intensify grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation across Nsulu communities.
The aim is to highlight the achievements of the current administration and consolidate support for the Labour Party ahead of 2027.The stakeholders also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting all Labour Party candidates at every level, noting that the party’s success depends on collective responsibility, unity of purpose, and coordinated action.
They welcomed assurances from the Chief of Staff that compensation for persons affected by the Abia Airport land acquisition has been approved by the state government and expressed confidence that eligible beneficiaries would receive their entitlements.
The group further commended ongoing efforts to address electricity challenges in Nsulu, particularly in Umunna Nsulu, and expressed optimism that work would begin soon.They encouraged eligible indigenes to take advantage of government empowerment and capacity-building programmes, including TECHRISE, the Abia Leadership Academy, the Abia Smart School Initiative, and other youth development schemes.
To drive the resolutions, three committees were constituted:
Empowerment Committee – to identify, profile, and coordinate eligible beneficiaries for government empowerment, entrepreneurship, employment, and capacity-building programmes.
Voter Education and Sensitisation Committee – to educate voters on Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, civic participation, and the achievements of the Labour Party-led administration.
Mobilisation Committee – to strengthen grassroots party structures, foster reconciliation where needed, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and mobilise support for Labour Party candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The stakeholders also called for the accelerated completion of ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects in Nsulu, especially strategic roads and other critical public facilities that can boost socio-economic development.
They urged all party members and supporters to maintain maturity, civility, and political decorum during the electioneering period by promoting issue-based campaigns, peaceful coexistence, and responsible democratic participation.
The forum expressed appreciation to Ajagba for his leadership and commitment to Nsulu’s development, reaffirming its collective resolve to work in unity to sustain good governance and strengthen democratic participation.
