Troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested a suspected foreign courier transporting illicit drugs and prohibited substances allegedly meant for terrorists in the Lake Chad Islands.
The suspect, identified as Mrs. Rachael Samuel (48), a Chadian national, was intercepted on Thursday, July 9, 2026, while travelling towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Acting Military Information Officer Capt. Mohammed Goni, the operation was part of intensive search patrols along the Maiduguri–Monguno axis.
Preliminary findings revealed that the recovered items were intended to support terrorist elements in the Lake Chad region.

Seven bundles of cannabis sativa weighing about 30kgTwo 10-litre containers of hydromercuric chloride (“Suck and Die”)One carton of 48 bottles of dry gin61 bottles of herbal alcoholic beveragesMobile phone, ATM cards, personal effects, and cash.
The military noted that the substances, valued in millions of naira, are often used by terrorist groups to stimulate fighters and facilitate violent operations.
The suspect is currently in custody, while the exhibits will be handed over to law enforcement for further investigation and prosecution.
Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance, stressing that the interception disrupted a critical terrorist supply chain.
Residents were urged to continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing efforts to restore peace in the North-East.
