Troops Dismantle Illegal Arms Factory in Kebbi, Arrest Two Suspects

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dismantled an illegal arms factory in Kebbi State, recovering five locally fabricated AK‑47 rifles and arresting two suspected gun makers accused of supplying weapons to terrorist groups.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday following credible intelligence, targeted a secluded compound allegedly used by the suspects to manufacture and stockpile firearms.

Confirming the raid in a statement on Thursday, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the breakthrough was achieved in collaboration with other security agencies.

“During a thorough search of the premises, troops recovered five locally fabricated AK‑47 rifles and arrested two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers,” the statement read.

Danja noted that the suspects are in military custody undergoing interrogation, while investigations are underway to track down other members of the syndicate, including financiers and collaborators.

The Theatre Command commended the troops and partner agencies for the successful operation, urging residents of the North‑West to continue providing timely intelligence to support ongoing efforts against terrorism, banditry, and illegal weapons networks.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA has intensified its campaign in recent months, targeting armed groups, kidnappers, and illicit arms suppliers in a bid to curb insecurity across the region.
