Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections, has sharply criticised President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of isolating himself in the Presidential Villa.
Obi made the remarks on Sunday during a live appearance on Channels Television. He urged the President to emerge from what he described as a “bunker” and directly address the Nigerian people.
“A leader must be speaking to his people. The person we voted for in this country is Bola Tinubu. He’s no longer talking,” Obi said.
He added: “President Tinubu has turned Aso Rock into a bunker. He is no longer talking. He should come out of that bunker and speak to the people. Where is the man we gave our mandate?”
Obi contrasted this with his own approach, saying he would continue to communicate directly with Nigerians and fulfil his commitments.
He questioned the absence of the President amid ongoing national issues, including controversies surrounding fake agencies in government.
“We didn’t vote all these characters talking to us,” Obi stated, emphasising the need for the elected leader to take centre stage in public communication.
The comment comes amid heightened political discourse as Nigeria looks ahead to the 2027 presidential election.
