Those With Businesses When Tinubu Came in Now Sell kuli-kuli — Peter Obi

Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming that many Nigerians who once ran thriving businesses have now been reduced to selling kuli-kuli to survive.

Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo published Wednesday, Obi argued that hardship under Tinubu’s government has deepened poverty, hunger, and insecurity.

He dismissed suggestions that enthusiasm for his 2023 presidential campaign had waned, insisting that his support base has grown as more Nigerians reassess the current administration.

“Those who had businesses when he came into power have collapsed. They are now the people who are selling kuli-kuli,” Obi said.Obi criticized Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, describing it as “hopelessness,” and maintained that Nigerians could no longer be convinced the country was progressing.

He claimed that poverty levels and hunger rankings have worsened since Tinubu assumed office.

The former governor also defended his alliance with ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, praising him as a politician committed to lifting people out of poverty and investing in education.

Obi emphasized that human capital development, not physical infrastructure, is the true driver of national growth, citing Asian nations like China and Malaysia as examples.

He reiterated that tackling Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis and improving healthcare would be central to his priorities, stressing the need for a productive economy that empowers citizens with skills and opportunities.
