Terrorists Attack Army Base, Police Post, Hospital in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked a Forward Operating Base, burnt a police outpost, a primary healthcare centre, and two classrooms in Logomani community, Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.

The assault occurred late on Tuesday night. The terrorists first targeted the military base, where one soldier was killed, before dispersing residents with sporadic gunfire and setting public facilities ablaze.

The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North-East Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.

He said troops of Operation Hadin Kai at the Forward Operating Base in Logomani successfully contained the coordinated attack by ISWAP terrorists.

“Although the insurgents briefly exploited a section of the base’s defensive perimeter during the intense firefight, the troops rapidly regrouped, mounted a determined counter-offensive and decisively expelled the attackers, inflicting significant casualties and forcing the surviving terrorists to flee with varying degrees of gunshot wounds,” the statement read.

Capt. Goni added that two gun trucks and some combat enablers were damaged during the engagement.

He noted that the situation at the base remains under firm control, with reinforcements deployed and exploitation operations ongoing.

Residents described the attack as well-coordinated, saying the terrorists operated with little resistance.

One resident, who spoke anonymously, said the attackers overpowered the soldiers before torching the school, police outpost, and hospital.

A local security source revealed that a combined team of police, military, and Civilian Joint Task Force operatives trailed the fleeing terrorists.

The Executive Chairman of Ngala Local Government Council, Mala Tijjani Ngala, visited the scene on Wednesday for an on-the-spot assessment.

He inspected the damaged facilities and said findings would be forwarded to the Borno State Government for urgent intervention.

The chairman called for calm and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies.
