The Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area in Sokoto State, Isa Kalanjeni, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and stepped down from his position as council chairman.
Kalanjeni’s decision was conveyed in two separate letters made available to journalists in Sokoto.
In the first letter, dated May 5, 2026, and addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Kalanjeni Ward, he formally withdrew his membership from the ruling party, citing “purely personal reasons.”
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve within the APC.A second letter, dated July 7, 2026, and addressed to the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, confirmed his resignation as Executive Chairman of Tangaza LGA
.“This difficult decision has been reached after extensive consultations with my family, key political associates and community stakeholders,” Kalanjeni wrote, adding that “recent unavoidable administrative challenges” had hindered his ability to meet the demands of the office.
He thanked the electorate, the council’s legislative arm, and staff for their support, wishing the incoming leadership success.As of press time, neither the Sokoto State Government nor the APC had issued an official response to his resignation.
