Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have clashed with bandits loyal to notorious kingpin Ado Allero in a fierce gun battle in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Security sources confirmed that the confrontation erupted during an ongoing military offensive aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the region.
The bandits, reportedly moving in large numbers, engaged the troops but were met with superior firepower.
Military officials described the encounter as “intense,” noting that reinforcements and air surveillance assets were being deployed to support ground forces.
Ado Allero, regarded as one of the most wanted bandit leaders in the North-West, has been linked to repeated attacks on rural communities, kidnappings, and cattle rustling across Zamfara, Katsina, and neighbouring states.
His camps have been targeted multiple times under Operation FANSAN YAMMA as part of efforts to weaken bandit and terrorist enclaves.
Further details are expected as the operation continues, but early reports indicate that several bandits have been neutralised in the ongoing offensive.
