Senator Ningi Urges Swift Prosecution, Public Parade of Oyo Abduction Suspects

Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi, has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to immediately prosecute and publicly parade suspects arrested in connection with the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

Speaking during plenary on Wednesday, Ningi stressed that those responsible for the crime must face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent to others. He warned that any delay in prosecuting the suspects could erode public confidence in the justice system.

“What is important going forward now is to take a cue. Now we have people arrested, they must be paraded, prosecuted and let the law take its full course. Delayed prosecution will create another impression that something is wrong. I therefore call on the security agency to prosecute, parade, and use them as an example,” Ningi said.

Recall that gunmen abducted pupils and teachers from Baptist Nursery and Primary School, LA Primary School, and Community Grammar School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The victims endured 56 days in captivity before being rescued on Friday by a joint team of security operatives.

The senator’s remarks add to growing calls for transparency and accountability in handling the case, with many Nigerians demanding that justice be swift and visible to reassure communities affected by rising insecurity.
