OPEP Troops Arrest Two Over NIPSS Attack

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have arrested two suspects allegedly linked to the recent assault on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to Captain Polycarp Oteh, spokesperson for the security outfit, the arrests were made on Saturday, July 4, at about 3:30 p.m. during an intelligence-led operation at the Trade Center axis of Kuru.

One suspect, identified as Aboi, was first apprehended. Following interrogation, he led operatives to the second suspect.

Both are now in custody and undergoing further questioning to help security agencies track down other fleeing members of the criminal network.

“The suspects are being exploited for further intelligence that could lead to the arrest of other members of the group involved in the attack,” Oteh stated.

The arrests come after a series of violent incidents at the NIPSS facility, which left four people dead, including security operatives.

The most recent attack on July 2 was repelled by soldiers, who killed one of the assailants while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Troops also recovered a service rifle, later confirmed to have been stolen from a soldier killed during an earlier attack on the Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Vom, on April 11, 2026.
