The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has announced the passing of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing him as a distinguished entrepreneur whose life was defined by humility and service to humanity.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Palace Director of Media and Public Affairs, Sodiq Lawal, the monarch said Prince Adetunji’s death has left an irreplaceable void in the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty, and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.
Born on December 8, 1967, Prince Adetunji was a member of the Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House and served as Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings.
The Ooni praised his late brother’s reputation for excellence, innovation, and visionary leadership in business, alongside his commitment to humanitarian causes.
“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion,” the monarch said.
He added that beyond his business achievements, Prince Adetunji touched many lives through generosity, wise counsel, and selfless service, consistently upholding the values of the Ojaja Royal Family.
The Ooni extended condolences to the Ogunwusi family and the people of Ile-Ife, urging them to take solace in the impactful life the late prince lived.
“Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his footprints on the sands of time can never be erased,” he said, praying for the repose of his brother’s soul and comfort for his loved ones.
