Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade have rescued nine kidnap victims in Katsina State after they managed to flee from a terrorists’ hideout when their captors reportedly fell asleep.
The victims, three women, four men, and two children were intercepted by soldiers on foot patrol around Anguwan Doka in Faskari Local Government Area at about 8:30 a.m. on July 15.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the victims revealed during preliminary questioning that they had been abducted along the Tsafe–Kuchere Road in Zamfara State.
They said they seized the chance to escape when the guards at the terrorists’ enclave dozed off, trekking until they encountered the patrol team.
The victims, all indigenes of Kuchere village in Tsafe Local Government Area, have since been taken into protective custody by the military pending their reunification with their families.
