Former Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has defended the legacy of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his administration as one that left behind a flourishing nation with a strong economy, improved security, and a solid foundation for future governments.
Speaking in an interview with ARISE Television on Monday, ahead of events marking the first anniversary of Buhari’s death, Sirika dismissed claims that the former president’s policies worsened hardship for Nigerians.
“President Buhari had done extremely well on the economy. I’ve been in government, I’ve seen the state of the country, and I believe he left Nigeria in a good place socially, economically, and politically,” Sirika said.
He affirmed that Buhari’s administration provided sufficient resources and stability for his successor to build upon.
However, he declined to comment on President Bola Tinubu’s policies, stressing that both leaders were pursuing programs rooted in the ideology of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sirika added that neither Buhari nor Tinubu introduced policies intended to harm Nigerians, noting that decisions taken by both administrations were guided by prevailing national challenges.
The former minister’s remarks come as allies and associates of Buhari prepare to commemorate the first anniversary of his passing on July 13, 2025.
