The trial of social media influencer and relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, was on Wednesday adjourned after her lawyer informed the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, that she was unwell in prison custody.
Blessing CEO is facing a two-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing N36 million.
At the resumed hearing, her counsel, P.I. Nwafuru, told the court that officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service had reported her illness, making her unable to attend proceedings.
He requested an adjournment and assured the court that a medical report would be presented at the next sitting.Justice D.I. Dipeolu subsequently adjourned the case until Monday, July 20, 2026, for continuation of trial.
One of the charges alleges that between July 14 and 17, 2024, Blessing CEO fraudulently obtained N36 million from Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the false pretence of leasing a six-bedroom duplex in Lekki, Lagos, an offence contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
The case continues to draw public attention as one of the high-profile fraud trials involving a social media personality.
