LASTMA Establishes Physical Complaint Centre to Enhance Transparency

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has opened a dedicated Physical Complaint Centre at its headquarters in Oshodi.

This new facility provides residents with an in-person platform to report traffic-related issues, lodge complaints, and make enquiries particularly regarding the conduct of LASTMA personnel.

The initiative is part of the agency’s broader reforms to promote transparency, accountability, and more responsive, citizen-focused service delivery in traffic management across Lagos State.

The announcement, shared via LASTMA’s official X account, comes about one month after the launch of its 3367 toll-free hotline. In its first 30 days (June 28 to July 29, 2026), the digital call centre recorded an impressive 2,843 public engagements.

 Breakdown of calls received:

1,047 enquiry calls

709 commendation calls

468 successfully resolved cases

400 reports of accidents and vehicle breakdowns

163 formal complaints

11 information requests

45 unsuccessful calls (due to abandoned calls, network issues, or technical problems)

General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki described the Physical Complaint Centre as a complement to the toll-free hotline.

It caters to members of the public who prefer face-to-face interactions for reporting concerns, seeking clarifications, or filing complaints about officers’ conduct.

“Every complaint received is accorded the utmost seriousness and subjected to painstaking investigation in strict compliance with established administrative procedures, extant regulations and the immutable principles of natural justice,” Bakare-Oki stated.

He highlighted the strong public response to the toll-free line as evidence of growing confidence in LASTMA’s commitment to operational excellence, integrity, and professionalism.

The agency maintains a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, extortion, misconduct, and abuse of office. Officers found culpable after due process face disciplinary action under Public Service Rules.

LASTMA urged motorists, commuters, and other road users to actively utilise both the Physical Complaint Centre and the 3367 toll-free hotline for emergencies, feedback, and information.

This collaboration aims to foster safer roads and more efficient traffic management in Lagos.
