Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Qatar, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar.
The ceremony, held on Thursday at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, featured full diplomatic honours, including an inspection of the Guard of Honour. Yakubu was accompanied by senior officials of the Nigerian Embassy.
According to a statement by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador conveyed warm greetings from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
During a private audience, the Amir welcomed Yakubu and emphasized Qatar’s intention to deepen cooperation with Nigeria, referencing past high-level diplomatic exchanges.
Yakubu also extended condolences over the recent accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City and highlighted opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, education, security, and humanitarian affairs.
