The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released two prominent supporters and activists of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), after detaining them for questioning.
Randy Peter and Precious Oruche (popularly known as Mama Pee) were freed on Wednesday night following several hours of engagement with EFCC officials at the commission’s headquarters.
Their release came after widespread concern on social media regarding their whereabouts, prompting questions from supporters and associates.Fellow activist Justice Cracks confirmed the development in a statement shared on social media. He revealed that he accompanied the pair to the EFCC office on Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2026, around 1:00 p.m., after they received an invitation from the agency.
According to Justice Cracks, the session lasted roughly 11 hours. The activists were released around midnight and asked to return on Wednesday, July 16, 2026. He assured that “everything is fine” for now.
No further details have been released about the reason for the invitation or the nature of the discussions.
