CAC to Deregister 100,000 Companies Over Unfiled Returns

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has begun the process of striking off approximately 100,000 companies from its register for failing to file outstanding annual returns and other statutory documents.

In a public notice signed by its management on Wednesday, the CAC announced that the exercise, tagged Batch 6, is being carried out under Section 692 (3) and (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.

Affected companies can check the full list of names on the Commission’s official website at cac.gov.ng.

The CAC has given the defaulting companies a 90-day window to regularise their records by filing all outstanding annual returns, including Persons with Significant Control/Beneficial Ownership information. Evidence of compliance should be forwarded to the designated email address provided by the Commission. Companies that fail to act within the stipulated timeline will be struck off the register without further notice.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to delivering efficient services to its customers.
