ADC House of Reps Aspirant, Aminullahi Mustapha, Defects to APC in Kebbi

A House of Representatives aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Jega/Gwandu/Aliero Federal Constituency in Kebbi State, Aminullahi Mustapha, has resigned from the party and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mustapha announced his resignation in a letter dated July 5, 2026, addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman of Magaji B Ward in Jega Local Government Area. He explained that the decision followed consultations with his supporters, stakeholders, and associates across the constituency.

According to Mustapha, his move to the APC was motivated by his commitment to the development of the constituency and his belief that the ruling party aligns with his political vision. He expressed gratitude to the ADC for the opportunity to serve under its platform and thanked members for their support during his time in the party.

The former ADC aspirant, an ally of former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, was formally received into the APC by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. He was welcomed alongside thousands of his supporters who also defected to the ruling party.

Mustapha’s defection comes amid a wave of political realignments in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several ADC members and aspirants moving to the APC in recent months.
