The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed the Tenancy and Recovery of Premises Bill, a new law designed to regulate landlord-tenant relationships and provide a legal framework for resolving disputes.
The bill, presented by Misa Musa, Chairman of the Committee on Housing and Urban Development and member representing Ganye Constituency, outlines the rights and responsibilities of both landlords and tenants.
It seeks to protect parties from unfair treatment while reducing conflicts over tenancy agreements and property recovery.
After adopting the committee’s report, Speaker Bathiya Wesley directed the Clerk of the House to prepare a clean copy of the bill for transmission to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for consideration and assent.
Lawmakers say the legislation will strengthen housing regulations in the state, promote fairness, and ensure that disputes are resolved within a clear legal structure rather than through arbitrary actions.
