Troops of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke, working with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes, have arrested 42 suspected kidnappers during a joint security operation in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The operation was conducted on Saturday, July 11, 2026, around 9:45am, following intelligence reports of kidnapping activities in the villages of Nunku, Dundu, Takpir, and Akka.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who covers the Lake Chad region, reported that the joint team swiftly mobilised to the affected communities and carried out clearance and cordon-and-search operations, leading to the apprehension of the 42 suspects.
The arrested individuals were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Andaha Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities described the raid as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and restore peace across Nasarawa State and surrounding areas.
