Some residents, mostly youths, took to the streets in Port Harcourt on Friday to demand the resignation of President Bola Tinubu.
The protesters combined their call for the President’s exit with a strong message urging eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
In a video circulating widely on social media, the demonstrators were heard chanting: “Get your voter cards, Tinubu must go.”
The protest in Port Harcourt formed part of a wave of demonstrations held across Nigeria on Friday, as citizens marked the 2026 June 12 Democracy Day.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana and activist Omoyele Sowore led separate “EndBadGovernance” protests in Lagos and Abuja respectively, alongside some celebrities and civil society groups.
