VIDEO: Suspect blames Tinubu for crime while pleading for leniency in court

A courtroom exchange captured in a viral video has sparked reactions on social media after a suspect blamed President Bola Tinubu while pleading for mercy before a judge.

In the clip, the suspect, standing in the dock, was heard speaking in Igbo as he appealed for leniency.

The video does not disclose the identity of the suspect, the nature of the case, or the court where the proceedings took place.

“Please forgive me. I will not do it again. I actually have something doing; I have handwork. But it was Tinubu who caused it,” the suspect said, drawing laughter from some people in the courtroom.

The video has since been widely shared across social media platforms, with users expressing mixed reactions.

Reacting on Facebook, Ganiyat Mojisola Bankole wrote: “Somehow he’s not entirely wrong. A bad government can precipitate crime. Nonetheless, crime is choice, he had options and he chose his path. So let him do his time”.

Another user, Emmanuel John, wrote: “Tinubu will never forget this generation”.

Makike Stella Offor said: “He stated the fact the economy is not favourable”.

Kereyak Okpo, another social media user, wrote: “If the federal government can grant amnesty to bandits who promise to turn a new leaf, then perhaps this guy also deserves a chance at forgiveness. Since he has promised not to commit any crime again”.
