Omoyele Sowore, the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has described President Bola Tinubu as “lazy and clueless,” saying he has no effective solution to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
Sowore made the remark while reacting to recent killings in Plateau State and the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
He criticised the President for failing to deliver on his promises to tackle insecurity. In a statement on Monday, Sowore wrote: “Your lazy and clueless president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has no effective solution to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.“
"After the killings in Plateau State, he promised to deploy 5,000 AI-enabled surveillance cameras, yet the violence continues. Following the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, he announced plans to deploy 1,000 forest guards, yet kidnappings persist.”
The activist-politician also threw his weight behind Nigerian workers’ demand for a new minimum wage of N500,000 per month, describing the current economic situation as extremely harsh.
“The nation’s consciousness needs a leader with a conscience, one who can awaken the people and ensure they never again go to sleep on their rights and dignity,” he said.
“In this harsh Tinubu economy, everyone who earns a salary knows that no human being can live decently on N100,000 a month, yet those in positions of authority have remained silent.“
The suffering is obvious, the injustice is clear, but too many have chosen complacency over courage.
A society progresses when its people become conscious of their condition and refuse to accept poverty, exploitation, and inequality as normal,” Sowore added.
