Former Zamfara governorship candidate, Sani Shinkafi, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, the Department of State Services (DSS), and Interpol, calling for an investigation into a viral social media video accusing Senator Abdul’aziz Yari of diverting ₦1.7 trillion.
The petition, also copied to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), was filed on behalf of Yari, Abdulkarim Tsafe, and Ajap Financial Services Limited.
Shinkafi alleged that China-based influencer Bello Galadanchi, popularly known as Danbello, circulated politically motivated video clips portraying Yari as having siphoned funds from the federation account.
He described the claims as false, defamatory, and damaging to Yari’s reputation.The petition urged authorities to prosecute Danbello under the Cybercrime Act 2015 and relevant criminal codes, warning that unchecked online defamation could erode public trust and set a dangerous precedent.
