Shettima, Akpabio, 18 Governors Rally Ekiti People for Oyebanji’s Re-election

President Bola Tinubu has urged the people of Ekiti State to re-elect Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Saturday’s governorship election, describing him as a humble, prepared, and people-focused leader.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Ekiti on Tuesday, President Tinubu praised Oyebanji’s performance in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, education, and inclusive leadership.

He highlighted projects such as one of the longest flyovers in the country and the governor’s cordial relationship with traditional rulers and past leaders.

Tinubu said, “Governor Oyebanji is a man who understands the nitty-gritty of leadership... On Saturday, go out and re-elect this humble and peaceful man so that he can continue to serve you better.”

The rally, which served as the grand finale of the APC governorship campaign, drew a massive turnout of senior party leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and 18 governors.

Akpabio described Oyebanji as a peaceful, humble, and gender-friendly governor whose unifying leadership has resonated across the state. He urged voters to turn out en masse on Saturday and also support President Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Other speakers, including Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani (Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council) and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma (Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum), expressed confidence in a landslide victory for Oyebanji, citing his strong performance in education, infrastructure, human capital development, and workers’ welfare.

APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda commended the governor’s achievements in roads, scholarships, and healthcare projects, telling voters: “On Saturday, you will simply wake up, take a bow and receive your votes.”

Governor Oyebanji, who was flanked by his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, and Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, thanked the party leadership and Ekiti people for their support.

He pledged that a second term would deliver even greater achievements, while urging residents to maintain peace during the election.

In a notable cross-party gesture, former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose announced his support for Oyebanji, citing the governor’s unifying leadership and political maturity.

The high-profile rally underscores the APC’s determination to retain power in Ekiti State through continuity and performance.
