Sanwo-Olu Hails Oyebanji’s Re-Election, Calls It Reward for Good Governance

Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu praised the people of Ekiti for conducting a peaceful election and for renewing their trust in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He described Oyebanji’s landslide win as proof of his popularity and a reward for effective governance.

“Governor Oyebanji’s victory in the governorship poll with 83.54 per cent of the total votes cast is a reward for performance and outstanding delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State during his first term,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Lagos governor also congratulated Oyebanji’s deputy, Monisade Afuye, on her re-election, assuring Ekiti residents that the APC would continue to deliver on its promises.

Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism that the renewed mandate would strengthen the APC’s influence in the South-West and enable Oyebanji to deepen development initiatives across Ekiti.

He further commended President Bola Tinubu for providing what he called the right leadership and direction for Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Oyebanji, who contested under the APC, secured victory across all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, polling 319,224 votes — representing 83.54 per cent of the total ballots cast.

His closest rival, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, polled 40,533 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress received 12,872 votes.
