The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that bandits could attempt to block the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in July or August, calling on security agencies to heighten vigilance.
Ayodele issued the warning during a Sunday service at the church’s headquarters. A video of his remarks was later shared on his official TikTok account.
“Ibadan. Lagos-Ibadan Express Road. July/August, I do not know the precise time. Bandits will block the road. Lagos-Ibadan Express Road. They will block the road. So the security agencies should note this,” the cleric stated.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of Nigeria’s busiest routes, connecting Lagos to several South-West states and linking to northern parts of the country.
As of the time of reporting, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Federal Government had issued any official response or security advisory based on the prediction.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over the spread of banditry and kidnapping into parts of the South-West, following recent attacks on schools in Oyo State.
Primate Ayodele has previously criticised the Federal Government over its handling of the nation’s security challenges.
