The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the abduction and assault of the Chairman of Ikere-West Local Council Development Area, Hon. Rufus Olorunfemi, and one Funso Ajayi.This brings the total number of suspects arrested to five.
The latest arrests were made on June 6, 2026, by the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit.The suspects, identified as Daramola Sehinde and Oluyede Dapo, were detained over alleged conspiracy, abduction, and assault occasioning harm on the victims.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday in Ado-Ekiti. He said the suspects would be thoroughly investigated and charged to court, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.
The Command also dismissed claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, that police were intimidating or illegally arresting party members ahead of the forthcoming election, describing the allegations as unfounded.
