The Presidency has criticized Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing him as a “copy-and-paste politician” who cannot compete with President Bola Tinubu.
In a post on X, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, argued that Obi’s eight-year tenure as Anambra governor left little to showcase, contrasting it with Tinubu’s legacy in Lagos.
“Peter Obi has never shown original, authentic thinking. He is a copy-and-paste politician. Willie Obiano, his successor, said Obi failed spectacularly in providing security in the state.
Nigeria deserves a leader who can see beyond the ken of the ordinary people, a leader who is a proven deep thinker and doer. Peter Obi is no match for President Bola Tinubu. They are not on the same level,” Onanuga stated.
He highlighted Tinubu’s rail and road masterplan in Lagos, which continues to guide infrastructure development years after his governorship, as evidence of Tinubu’s foresight and leadership capacity.
The remarks come amid intensifying political exchanges ahead of the 2027 elections, with Obi positioning himself as a major opposition figure against the ruling APC.
