Even If They Kidnap Us All, There’s No Vacancy in Aso Rock - Okpebholo

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has accused opposition parties of exploiting insecurity to discredit President Bola Tinubu’s administration, insisting that such tactics will not win them power.

Speaking Tuesday at the flag-off of the APC campaign for local government elections in Edo South, Okpebholo dismissed opposition strategies, declaring that the presidency is not up for grabs

.“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. They can even kidnap all of us yes, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock,” he said.

The governor argued that promoting insecurity through kidnappings and attacks only undermines governance, stressing that “there will be nobody left to govern” if such acts continue.

Okpebholo praised Tinubu’s achievements, particularly the impact of fuel subsidy removal, which he said is reflected in ongoing projects across the state.

He also commended APC candidates who emerged from the primaries, expressing confidence that their victories would help deliver the 2.5 million votes pledged to Tinubu in 2027.

APC state chairman Jarrett Tenebe described the party as the only viable political platform in Edo, urging candidates to take the governor’s developmental message to grassroots communities.

The event concluded with the unveiling of APC’s Edo South candidates, including Ogbeide Ihama (Senate), Paddy Iyamu (Oredo Federal Constituency), and Omorede Igbinedion (Ovia Federal Constituency).

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has scheduled council polls across the 18 LGAs for July 11, 2026.
