Rev. Dr. Okechukwu Christopher Obioha, leader of the Njiko Igbo Forum, has cautioned that Nigeria’s 2027 general election may not hold if Peter Obi is excluded from the presidential ballot.
His warning came after a Federal High Court in Lokoja ordered the deregistration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), ruling that the party’s logo infringed on the rights of the Peace Movement Party (PMP).
Justice Isah Dashen noted that PMP was not joined in the original suit despite its claims over the disputed logo.Speaking to Daily Post, Obioha criticized the judiciary for what he described as “inconsistencies” and accused the current administration of undermining the institution.
He alleged that public trust in the courts has collapsed under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.“If Peter Obi is frustrated and not on the ballot, there will be no election in 2027.
That’s not a threat it’s a warning,” Obioha declared.He further insisted that Nigerians are “tired and strangulated” by the system, predicting that Tinubu would not remain president beyond May 29, 2027 if Obi is sidelined.
