Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has likened the upcoming 2027 presidential election to a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) bout, warning that it will be a fierce contest.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Ndume acknowledged the growing opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Seyi Makinde already in the race.
Asked whether President Bola Tinubu and the APC can withstand the challenge, Ndume replied: “I am not that worried about it, but at the same time, I don’t take opponents for granted. We are going to struggle it out together; it can be hard like the WWE; it’s going to be a tough fight.”
He criticized some of Tinubu’s aides for failing to present the president with hard truths, stressing that underestimating rivals would be a mistake.
“Peter Obi has tried before, Atiku has tried before. They are not new in the arena,” he said, adding that the APC must brace for a grueling contest.
Ndume reaffirmed his loyalty to Tinubu, describing him as “my president” and pledging to fight alongside him despite the mounting political storm.
