NDLEA Arrests Two Grandfathers for Selling Drugs to Students in Abia

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two grandfathers in Abia State for allegedly peddling illicit drugs, including sales targeted at students.

One of the suspects is 83-year-old Pa John Ofiel, who was nabbed on April 28, 2026, during a raid at Samek by Powerline in Aba.

NDLEA operatives recovered 700 grams of skunk (a strain of cannabis) packaged in retail sachets from him.

The octogenarian, a former professional shoemaker, reportedly confessed to venturing into the drug trade.

The second grandfather’s details align with the agency’s ongoing operations in the state, where elderly suspects were found supplying drugs to young people, including students.

The arrests form part of NDLEA’s intensified nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and peddling.

The agency has vowed to prosecute the suspects while urging communities to report suspicious activities, especially those endangering youths.
