The Nigerian Navy has successfully rescued several victims trapped in the rubble of a collapsed building in the Alakija area of Lagos State.
According to a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, the Navy responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and joined other emergency agencies at the scene.
Folorunsho noted that the prompt intervention, marked by professionalism and dedication, led to the evacuation of victims who were immediately taken to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, for emergency treatment and ongoing care.
He emphasized the Navy’s commitment to ensuring that those affected receive full medical support.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, commended the courage of the rescue team and the medical personnel involved.
He also expressed gratitude to other emergency responders and members of the public whose cooperation contributed to the successful operation.
Abbas extended sympathy to the families impacted by the incident and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
He reaffirmed the Navy’s readiness to provide humanitarian assistance and support to civil authorities whenever required, in line with its constitutional responsibilities.
