Former Kano State governor and NNPP 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed alarm over students and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire LGA, Oyo State, who remain in captivity.
In a statement posted on his X account Monday, Kwankwaso said he was “deeply disturbed” that the victims have spent an extended period in captivity and missed recent festivities with their families.
He urged the federal and Oyo State governments to make their rescue an urgent priority and take decisive steps to prevent future school abductions.
“Nigeria must break free from the chains of insecurity. The dignity and sanctity of every human life must be protected,” Kwankwaso wrote.
The former senator stressed that education must not be disrupted by insecurity, and called for stronger measures to safeguard schools and students nationwide.
Authorities have not released updated details on the number of abductees or ongoing rescue operations.
