Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has extended automatic employment to all indigenes of the state who graduate with first-class degrees from any higher institution across Nigeria.
Radda announced the expansion on Sunday during the grand finale and award presentation of the maiden Katsina State Students’ Week held at Bayero University, Kano.
The governor explained that the policy, which was initially limited to first-class graduates from institutions within Katsina State, is now open to all Katsina students nationwide starting this year.
“When I assumed office, I introduced automatic employment for students who graduated with first-class degrees. We implemented this policy at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University and other institutions located in Katsina State,” he said.
“Today, I am pleased to expand the offer to all Katsina State students across the country who graduate with first-class degrees from this year onward.”
Radda stated that the initiative aims to attract the brightest minds into the state civil service and build one of the most efficient and productive bureaucracies in Nigeria.
“This decision is deliberate. If we recruit a significant number of first-class graduates into the civil service, Katsina State will have one of the most efficient and productive civil services in the country within the next 10 to 15 years,” he added.
He noted that his administration has prioritised education through increased bursary allowances, settlement of scholarship arrears, recruitment of over 10,000 teachers, and massive investment in school infrastructure.
The governor urged students to strive for academic excellence and contribute to the development of the state, expressing pride in the outstanding performance of Katsina indigenes.
